The Meant To Be tour kicked off last night in Detroit. We have posted a couple of clips captured by the audience on our Facebook page. SNR, I'm not sure if they can be embeded on the messageboard but you can see if they can be. Also, check your PM, please. Facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Ruben-Studdard-Fans/470345856316338

^ Gotcha! No, those video can't be embeded here (at least not that I can figure out). I love the one of him singing "Never Too Much." I think that is my favorite Luther song. Speaking of the Tour, Ruben and Lalah were in Detroit last night for the first night of the Meant To Be Tour and will be in Minnesota for 3 nights. www.dakotacooks.com/event/lalah-hathaway-and-ruben-studdard/I'll be seeing Ruben & Lalah in a few weeks.

Lalah Hathaway & Ruben Studdard turn Dakota into R&B heaven
The pairing of Lalah Hathaway and Ruben Studdard is a marriage made in R&B heaven.
Both have special voices, she a rich milkshake-like contralto with quite a bit of range, he a robust tenor with power to make heaven and earth move. When you hear him live, there’s no doubt that America got it right (sorry Clay Aiken) when voting him “American Idol” in 2003. And, live, Hathaway is clearly her father’s daughter, a genre blender who oozes intimacy and soul. READ MORE: www.startribune.com/entertainment/blogs/254151531.html

They must be pretty excited with how things went in Seattle. Everything I've read sounds like the shows were great, as I expected. I wonder if they will add another leg to the tour.

I'm sure that they are very excited. A friend of mine lives in Minnesota and attended the show there last week. She said that the show was awesome. I had no idea she was going. I don't think she is necessarily a "fan" of either but she loves good music and was pleasantly surprised at how great they were. As far as another leg of the tour being added, it wouldn't surprise me. I will be very surprised if there are no shows in Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham and some cities out west. We'll see.

Houston Rocked! Love the videos. They are not spoilers for me. They make me more excited about the concert. Videos are nothing like seeing the real thing. I'm surprised that folks were allowed to video and take photos so freely. (Actually, I'm sure they got the "No Photography or Video speech) The artists probably would rather they didn't but it is going to happen. Fans that can, will see the show anyway and those that can't would love to see what they are missing. Now, I don't think they should be posted on twitter but to each his own. Hopefully, the tour will be expanded so that more can see it. I found Superstar: And... If This World Were MineAnd..... Where Is The Love

Loved how people embraced all his songs and interacted with him. I wish I could go to see him too. I'm extremely happy for him. Thanks SNR for posting this great videos. It's not a spoiler for me since chances are I may not have a chance of attending a concert unless they add Bham to the mix. Thanks again!

A very talented group right here. I heard that the Houston show was epic.
I did not know, until today that in addition to being an R&B & Jazz performer, Eric Roberson is a part of Fred Hammond's 'United Tenors.'

SNR, I hope that it wasn't the Memphis show that your are planning to attend. It looks like it is not happening, according to Lalah.
lalah hathaway @lalahhathaway 35m @rubenstrebirth @rubenstuddard @iamericroberson @thecannoncenter nope. Not happening.

Very disappointed but always had it in my mind that this would happen. I think a more experienced promoter would have booked the concert differently and could have made it work. There were a few things from the get-go that had me concerned and actually kind of miffed but I was still hopeful. Ruben and Lalah have always done well in Memphis. Oh well. Life goes on. I knew those YouTube videos would come in handy.

Well, that sucks. Maybe they will come somewhere nearby. I was looking forward to your recap. Well, what sucks is that some folks didn't find out until this morning that the show was cancelled and some probably still don't know. If the show was co-headlined, both artists should have communicated to their fans that the show was cancelled. Lalah did so. She said that she was sorry. No one else has said anything. Even if the response was not what was expected/wanted, show some courtesy to those that DID try and wanted to support the show.
Communication skills and ability to show appreciation... sorely lacking.
Edited to Add a Statement from Eric to his fans:
Hey ERFling's, We were suppose to perform with Ruben Studdard and Lalah Hathaway today but unfortunately the show was canceled. Our plan was to come to Memphis and darn it that's what we will do. We found a venue and we'll be performing for our beautiful fans Saturday night. Are we crazy to book and promote a show in 36 hours? Yes most definitely! Come out tomorrow and continue to make history with us. Best,
Erro

Awwww now I feel bad about saying that I went to the show in Austin the other week. It was a surprise so I didn't even have my phone to take pics. The show was A-MAZING. Ruben and Lalah and the AWESOME. We had to leave right after the show but it was a show that I will never forget. I had heard of Lalah but didn't know her music. That chick bad.
