Ruben will be among the entertainers performing during the events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 16th Street church bombing where the 4 little girls were killed. He is supposedly performing on the 15th of September. I hope it's true because if it is, I will be looking forward going to see him and will ATTEMPT to figure out this Biggest Loser mystery. Isn't he supposed to be in weight loss boot camp? Wassup wit dat? ::scratching my head::

What the heck is going on??? I hate to root against your hopes bhamFan but I sure hope that it is not true. I hope he is still within the confines of the show/camp - at least until after the first show. It won't be exciting if he goes public before the first episode airs (but I'll be all ears if you do get to see him ) The Birmingham paper folks should know what they are talking about so I won't totally dismiss the story. I didn't think the October concerts ads could be true but they were. I guess we'll see. I'm with you Camilla on the confused part. Just a little over a month before the show airs so maybe the mystery of his role on the show will be revealed soon. Thanks for the info bhamFan

I was curious enough to see if the event was listed and found it. It also has Taylor listed as a performer. Taylor's website shows that he will be at an event in Texas on that day. I believe this is where they performed together after the Tornado. As I said earlier... we'll see. A Day of Commemoration 09/15/2013 • This day marks the 50th anniversary of when four girls were killed in a bombing at Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. A 3 p.m. worship service to commemorate the day will be held at the church. • Once church services end, live theatrical events will be held at KellyIngramPark, LinnPark and RailroadPark. The importance of the parks is to mark the past (Kelly Ingram), the present (LinnPark) and the future (RailroadPark.) • Special presentations that salute Birmingham’s civil rights foot soldiers and the four girls will be made in KellyIngramPark. 06:30pm American Idols Concert- Linn Park Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks, Sarah Evans. 50yearsforward.com/events/

Oy! I think I'll check back on the 16th to see what Bham Fan reports. LOL So sorry to report late...Well, as you may have heard, Ruben did not perform on last night's closing event for the Empowerment Week which, did not surprise me at all given the fact he is at the BL camp. It didn't make sense for him to be here, but I'm sure this was planned before TBL came along. I was looking forward to seeing him, but I rather him be at TBL camp taking care of himself. That's all I have for now. I'll be on the local lookout for Ruben and will report back.
