Let me know the juicy part! The juicy... wasn't THAT juicy. He talked about his marriage and how things didn't work out. They talked to his ex and she basically said that him being gone so much had a lot to do with the breakup. She wanted to travel with him but he didn't want her to do so. I believe she mentioned that they didn't have the counseling that they needed before getting into the marriage. He said that he hopes one day that they can be friends.

Since I don't get the channel, I am glad to hear about the show f r om all of you! Videos will probably be on the Centric website in a day or so that will show some of the clips.
Here's a run down, cj - probably not in order
Talked about him growing up showed photos of him as a baby and little boy.
Showed clips of his American Idol audition, win, etc.
Talked about his godfather con-artist who stole from him and he has since forgiven him. The man knew his family well and his mom suggested him as manager.
Talked to his mom, brother and close friends. They showed his old home and the house that he grew up in. Where he thought he had his first kiss and later remembered that it was a probably a church outing.
Talked about his work ethics. How they weren't what they should have been after Idol and how he is more focused now.
Speaking of church... He is an ORDAINED MINISTER. His friend whispered that to the camera.
They show clips of his recent events: Biggest Loser, Soul Train Awards, singing in NY with Valarie Simpson, clips from Biggest Loser and singing with David Foster.
I'll post more as I think about it.
The show will re-air on BET next week, according to my TV schedule.

Also love the relationship that he has with David Foster. They really work great together and have a mutual respect for one another. That always seemed to be missing with Clive Davis.

This was an awesome show! I thought I knew just about enough about Ruben, but an ordained minister??? Well, it makes sense now. I remember several years ago I went to a concert at the Carver theater where he and JAFC performed and we had church that night after he sang I need and angel! Time will tell what he will do with it (ministry). I so enjoyed watching Being Ruben Studdard.

I need to watch it again. I really enjoyed the entire hour. He has really grown since being on American Idol. The maturity is evident and he is seems more focus. When he said how now he wants his performances and singing to be perfect where in the past his singing may not have been his best. It was really a good show.

I finally made it to this board. I love it you guys. I wanted to say that I watched the program after searching and searching for Centric. I'm glad my cable carries it. Yes, I was also surprised to find out he is an ordained minister. I'm also glad he put it all out there about his work ethics in the past. He has "most definitely" (he uses that phrase a lot! LOL!) matured as a man and as an artist. I also read his interview with that lady Calurso, and was please to read that he has new management and publicist which really shows. This is Ruben's year and I'm happy to have followed his journey since idols days. He surely deserves everything he has achieved and it comes to show that this is the time where it was "Meant to Be". BTW...

Ya'll are crazy. Sometimes I think it is best to decline interviews - this was one of those times for her. Now that he has discussed it, I hope they can both move on. Two questions: 1. How the heck does his mom manage to look the same as she did 10 years ago? Beautiful lady. 2. Who the hell is that person that is so comfortable attacking Ruben on Twitter??? I've seen her in Ruben's mentions before and it is always negative. She shows up if Clay tweets something positive in support of Ruben, and ALWAYS has something negative to say. She apparently stalks Ruben's tweets and comments/chastises him if she doesn't like what he tweets. It sounds like that same crazy a$$ that was stalking him after Idol. Ruben is doing fine (maybe that's the problem) and as a fan, I don't give a flip about anything that happened 10 years ago. Get a life and move on, woman.

Loved the show. I agree, Ruben's mom looks great. That hour went by so fast. SNR, there are some sick people and time can't cure that. Ruben will always have haters. I've seen who I think you are talking about on twitter and you can tell that it is a sad and undoubtedly sick individual. The happier and more successful Ruben gets, the harder they will hate. Sad but that's how it is. Can't let it bother you. I'm sure Ruben doesn't. Welcome, Snow!

Deeply rooted hostility = sad, miserable person. Sad, miserable person seeks to make others sad and miserable.

Can somebody tell me what the guy was talking about when he mentioned the opera play or something like that? Didn't he say that Ruben had been in it?

I agree SNR, Ms. Emily looks as stunning as she did back in 2003. I saw her (well, I think it was her) at the "Lifted" movie release during the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham and I thought "Boy, I want to look that good when I get to be her age", not that she's that old... As far as the stalker is concerned, unfortunately there is a rabid "claymate" (THERE!, I said it!) who eleven years later has YET, to get over the fact Ruben won. Is not just Twitter she stalks, there are other sites that she peruses with the sole intention of attacking and criticizing Ruben, but it's also said that this person's elevator doesn't go all the way to the top either (if you know what I mean) and she has an obsession with Clay. I'm glad we don't pay attention to that kind of drama and applaud the Mods here for not giving her or any other hater a forum. I just had to mention it because people need to know it happens, but it doesn't matter because it comes with the territory and they will have to get over it already because Ruben has proven now more than ever, that he is the REAL TRUE AND ONLY winner. Eleven years later, he is STILL around making beautiful music. TAKE THAT HATER! ::rant off::

Bhamfam, I think the reality about reality shows is that they sometimes bring to the surface social deficiencies that some folks have. They become so attached to these celebrities until they think they are actually a part of their lives. I think a lot of us were in competition mode during and after Season 2 of Idol but there comes a point when the fun is over and the 'competition' should have ended. They (Ruben and Clay) have both had opportunities to do whatever THEY want to do with their lives. It doesn't mean that anybody has to support either one. Whenever Ruben is in life, it has no bearing on what Clay is doing and vise versa. No matter how much a person wants the 'win' title for a favorite competitor, if it didn't happen, it never will. Falsely downplaying the other's success at this point only exposes the delusion of the person doing it. The person that I was talking about piqued my interest enough to look at some of the other 'defenders' of Clay on Twitter and Bhamfam, I think you are correct about the multi personalities. This person is even a make-believe 'sessions musician' defending Clay. I should probably just pray for her. Anyway, back to what's important... I don't know what he's talking about. That's the guy that co-created Real Husbands of Hollywood. I did a re-wind and this is what he said, "I actually worked on one of those Gospel plays, turned TV series/movie opera with Ruben Studdard and it was from there that I learned how funny he was." He thinks that Ruben should delve further into acting. He said (in humor or course) that he should remake, 'A Star is Born With Ruben Studdard' or 'Big Boy Sings the Blues' but since he has lost weight, 'Medium Sized Guy Sings The Blues' a remake of 'Lady Sings the Blues.' Jo, they really covered a lot during that hour which was not an hour due to commercials. I loved how he talked about not really giving his all during the early years. I always felt that he was a person that went with his feeling. Lord only knows how much I have complained about him being a no-show in his career. I think most folks saw his potential from the beginning but it took him longer to realize it and what it takes to sustain it. If he had been surrounded by people that had his best interest at heart, as far as longevity is concerned, he would have had a much easier ride, I think. He needed the kind of people that saw more than quick money, fame and glory. I loved the show and how transparent he was. He looked happy and I think good things are in store for him. He most definitely does.

So glad the show re aired tonight. I could have sworn that I set my DVR for last night but got home this evening and it wasn't recorded. I loved the show. I think they told a lot. The ex should have been prepped for her interview. I was shocked that his brother made the statement that it was neither the time nor the person for Ruben to marry. I think his next bride to be needs to be vetted by his brother and the two lady friends. LOL!
Just want to add that I love how he has such great friends and they all grew up together. True friendship.

That statement from Kevin made my jaw drop. I think they were all being quite open and honest. As far as any potential Mrs. being vetting by his brother and friends...I pity anybody who has to go through that. They really love him and are going to be VERY wary of anybody that gets close to him. I'm sure he will too.
